I'm a big fan of the game of Bridge.
Here are some notes (pdf,
dvi, ps) which describe the
American Standard system to beginners. They are most useful as a reference
during the game, and when
used to instruct that fourth player who's willing to learn Bridge but has no
idea how to play...
Some Romanian organizations I have close ties with:
- Doctoral School of Finance and Banking (DOFIN)
at the Romanian Academy of Economic Studies (ASE).
This has a Master of Science program, at the end of which students present
their dissertations before an examination committee. I have been a member of
this committee since 2000. The dissertations usually apply some economic or financial
theory to the context of Romania. Most dissertations are in the area of macroeconomics
and banking, with only about a third of them in finance.
- Romanian Students Association at MIT
(RSA). I was involved in it
almost since the beginning (Jan '95), and I even was their president
during 2000-01. However, I am most proud for setting up their current
webpage. Here are some links from
this webpage:
Romania,
student
associations,
travel
agencies,
nice
pictures
of monuments, folk art, etc.
- Asociatia Tinerilor pentru Actiune Civica
(ATAC).
I happened to be classmates in college with the two coordinators
of this organization, so I got involved in it from the beginning.
One of ATAC's many projects is to set up an Ecole Normale Superieure,
after the French model. The project is ongoing, check out its
webpage.
